slipping into 2013
These are bowls from my last earthenware firing of 2012, a load filled with orders and plays of course. Layering the glazes his becoming part of the process, creating a loose surface that is neither traditional nor completely contemporary. I'm layering the surface and hoping for new lines this year, I'm looking for pots that will move beyond the bowl and the breakfast table and yet have their place in everyday function.
The Gas kiln experiments will continue as the marbling has been quite the thing and the surface created by that atmosphere is just so tactile.
I can't wait to start work again this year, i'll just wait for the heat to subside a tad, we're clocking 39C outside today, not sure what the studio temp would be but hardly the place to be right now.
